The smart coolers designed for Coca-Cola can act and control customer interaction. Collected data are sent to a platform for analysis and monitoring, to accurately discover and satisfy users’ habits and needs.

Need

Explor new ideas, technologies and innovative business models to apply digital strategies in the Coca-Cola ecosystem.

Transform the many refrigerators located all over the world (over one million in Europe) in smart coolers to support the sales force, estimate traffic at the cooler and related sales, control retail execution.

Optimizing fridge maintenance in a preventive approach.

Solution

Cefriel and Coca-Cola developed an advanced coolers concept equipped with sensors and cameras, connected to an advanced telemetry system, with Internet connectivity at the point of sale and local connectivity for interaction with mobile devices, able to collect data for analysis and sales process improvement.

The smart cooler, in addition to responding Coca-Cola’s needs, it is able to engage the consumer through proximity marketing paradigms.

Replacement of stand-alone coolers


After analyzing project results, Coca-Cola has launched a factual plan to renew all coolers on the market in 5 years.

10,000 smart coolers


The first pilot project replaced 10,000 smart coolers in Southern Europe.

The "smart cooler" concept was awarded by Carrefour as the innovation with the highest value creation potential for the whole system.
