Have you ever dreamed of becoming an astronaut? Have you ever wondered about the view from the International Space Station? And have you ever realized that from the space we can contribute to our Earth’s sustainability?
The answer is Night Knights, the game under development by Cefriel in the context of STARS4ALL, the European project aiming at creating collective awareness on light pollution, a widespread issue in most of the places we live in. Are you curious?
Play the beta version at http://games.stars4all.eu/nightknights/
Through Night Knights, get virtually on board of the ISS, create a crew with another player, and classify the images taken up there. The better the crew’s agreement, the higher score you collect to climb the game leader-board! Challenge your friends to discover who is the best astronaut and collect the most beautiful pictures from above!
But why “Night Knights”? Because, while playing, you also contribute to a citizen science campaign named “Cities at Night” to collect relevant information to fight light pollution, an issue caused by excessive artificial light at night, especially in urbanized areas. Light pollution interferes with astronomical observatories, disrupts ecosystems and can have adverse health effects. So, come on and become a night knight!
